Our Designer Maker course will help you to develop all the skills you need to establish yourself as a craft practitioner. You'll be able to study the course on a part-time basis over 6 years, benefiting from the strong emphasis on design practice and making, and giving you a solid understanding of materiality and function.

You will be able to develop your creative thinking and experiment with a range of materials to produce installations, prototype product design, and retail ready pieces. Use our fantastic facilities to learn technical skills in ceramics, stained glass, kiln-formed glass, metals, and textiles.

Many of our past students have gone on to work in the UK and abroad with organisations such as the Craft Council, Conran Design, the Victoria & Albert Museum, and the Imperial War Museum.
The third and fourth year will build on your contextual understanding of crafts and design. You will study studio practice and begin to critically analyse your designs and prototypes to develop your work, ready for batch production. There will also be an opportunity to undertake a 10 day work placement to work on live projects and client briefs.
